The main limitation is that once the Captain's Deck is gone then you're bankrupt and out of the game.

I've bought "one of everything" and been pretty happy, with no need to buy extra decks to get 3 of everything. I can build at least 4 workable decks at a time, but dont have enough to build more than that. As it's only a 4 player game anyway this isn't really a problem.
My own basic Gazelle deck uses that only need one , to fill out the deck. Stuff with high Isn't really a barrier to the Gazelle, so you can use "Reach for the Stars" or "Home One Last Time" much more easily than you could in a Beowulf deck.
